חָגm. (b. h.; חגג; cmp. מוֹעֵד, אֵיד) 1) anniversary, festival. Lev. R. s. 29; Pesik. Baḥod. p. 153a> ויש לו חג וחַגּוֹ בן יומו a New-Moon of a month in which there is a festival and whose festival coincides with the New-Moon, v. כָּסָה I. Y.Taan.IV, 69b bot., v. דְּרוֹמָאָה. Sot.36b יום חַגָּם their (the Egyptians) festive day; a. fr.Esp. ḥag (festive period), the Feast of Booths with its Eighth Day of Convocation (שמיני עצרת). Succ.IV, 2 י״ט הראשון של חג the first Holy Day of the ḥag; Ib. 5 י״ט האחרוןוכ׳ the last (the eighth day); a. fr. 2) pilgrims festive offering.
